Small Tapered Straight Tool
The Small Tapered Straight tool is often a “go to” tool used by many woodturners for both outside and inside turning. Similar to all hook tools, the cutter is to be used at about a 45 degree angle. The best use of this tool is on vessels when the reach is 3” or less. The following is useful information to use the tool.

The overall length of this tool is 8”. The additional length makes the tool useful to load into many of the captured hollowing systems. The Small Tapered tool can be provided with a 12” handle. Many turners use these tools in the various manufactured handles that are available on the market. By only exposing the minimum shaft length needed for your specific turning these manufactured handles helps increase the rigidity in the tools.
Badger Straight Tool
The Badger Straight Tool was designed for the box makers and the turners who like to work on smaller but deep vessels.
