Working Safety Center

A safety guideline is to always bring up the tailstock when possible.  The Working Safety Center is most useful when turning a platter, bowl, or anything that you need some more room to move work around the tailstock.

Simply knock out the tapered center pin and replace it with the Working Safety Center.  Bring the tailstock up to the turning and you have gained additional safe working area.  For finish pieces, one suggestion is to place a plastic cap over the nose.
