#1 Hunter Osprey Tool

This may be the last bowl / spindle gouge you will ever buy. There are two sizes:

– The larger tool uses the # 2 Hunter Cutter and is fabricated on a 1/2″ round shank

– The smaller tool uses the #1 Hunter Cutter and is fabricated on a 3/8″ round shank

Our #1 Hunter Osprey tool is supplied with a 12″ handle with 2″ epoxied into the handle. Without a handle, the overall length of the tool shaft is 6″. With a handle the overall length of the tool will be 16″. If you are buying the shaft only to use with your own handle, we recommend a 12” handle with about 2″ of the shaft epoxied into the handle.

#1 Hunter Osprey Tool

The # 1 Hunter Osprey tool is built on a 3/8″ diameter shank. The Osprey is a great tool for those fine finish cuts. It is used just like any other gouge: anchor, bevel, cut. The #1 Osprey is used by many pen turners. Please see the Hunter Tool demos for an easy method to turn beads and coves.
